ALEKSA studio is a RIBA Chartered Architecture and Design practice established in 2014. Based in London, our portfolio ranges from residential and retail projects to installations and furniture design pieces. We believe in the attention to detail on every project no matter the scale or budget. Our well established collaborative relationship with local contractors, structural engineers and specialist manufacturers aims to deliver high quality tailored design service. We love experimenting and designing through making using innovative materials and advanced fabrication techniques. Our recent projects include a restaurant interior for the Natural History Museum, a temporary window display for make-up brand Kiko Milano, several bespoke residential projects, an interior design collection and a 3D printed table. Our work has been exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art Summer Show (2012), Clerkenwell Design Week (2014-2015), the Centre Pompidou (2017) and belongs to the largest European art and design collection at Centre National Des Arts Plastiques, Paris.

PEOPLE

Aleksandrina Rizova
Architect/ Director
BA (Hons) MArch (Dist) ARB RIBA

Aleksandrina is ARB registered and RIBA chartered architect. Prior to establishing ALEKSA studio Aleks
worked at the award winning Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners across the commercial, residential and cultural sectors. She was primarily involved in the design and on-site coordination of the Leadenhall Building - a landmark tower in the city of London. Aleks was awarded the Komfort award for best interior space at the RIBA President’s Medals Student Awards in 2008. She completed a Graduate Diploma/ Masters course in Architecture with Distinction at the Bartlett School of Architecture where she received the Ambrose Poynter Prize for Distinguished work in the Diploma Thesis. Aleks has also been involved in academia since 2012 and is currently holding the position of Teaching Fellow in BSc Architecture and MEng Engineering and Architectural Design in The UCL Bartlett School of Architecture, London.

Johanna Sim
Senior Designer
MA

Johanna Sim’s twenty years experience as a designer spans a spectrum of expertise from brand identity and visual communications projects through environmental graphics, to award winning museum displays. Her professional career includes working for some of Britain’s best known design consultancies as well as operating as a freelance designer. Johanna has a real appreciation of the strategic and creative process of design ideas and their implementation, articulating coherent interpretive experiences which she communicates through beautiful, atmospheric sketches through to atmospheric modelling. She communicates effectively in an informative and thought-provoking manner, to ensure optimal execution quality. Johanna is a key member of ALEKSA studio contributing with her extensive knowledge of interpretation, exhibition design and education/ learning spaces design.

Jacob Riman
Part 2 Architectural Assistant
BSc (Hons) MArch  

Jacob completed a first class Undergraduate degree at Oxford Brookes School of Architecture in 2015, and is currently pursuing a masters in Architecture at the Royal College of Art. His interests and research lie in the integration of art, architecture and philosophy. He has contributed to our residential work and the restaurant refurbishment project at the Natural History Museum.

Paul Gallagher
Branding & Graphic Designer
 

Paul is a strategically minded graphic designer with twenty years’ experience creating brand identities, campaigns, digital and print communications across sectors including technology, marine, financial, not-for-profit, and property. Paul’s focus is to align strategic goals with appropriate and compelling creative. Paul graduated from the University of Brighton with a D&AD Student Commendation. Before founding PGA Branding in 2011, Paul worked in number of dynamic creative agencies including Ideology (London), Grafica (Barcelona), Uffindell (London). At ALEKSA studio Paul brings in-house branding and graphic design expertise on our commercial projects.

Wang Fung Chan
Part 2 Architectural Assistant
MArch (Dist) 

Fung graduated with distinction from the Bartlett in 2015. He has been an integral member and collaborator to the studio having contributed to projects such as Kiko Milano, various installations and product design pieces, our shortlisted entry for RIBA Open Call 2017 to name a few. He is currently working as a Designer at Heatherwick Studio. He studied and practiced architecture in Hong Kong and Spain before graduating from The Bartlett, UCL. He is interested in exploring the incorporation of computational techniques in architectural design and making. Fung has worked at some of the leading architectural practices including Heatherwick Studio, Foster and Partners and Aedas. He has worked on international projects on a wide range of scale, from installations to infrastructures, and has been mainly involved in unique digital design works with innovative use of materials.

Rory Noble-Turner
Part 1 Architectural Assistant
BSc (Hons) 

 

Rory completed an Undergraduate course at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL with first class degree in 2017. His interests lie in the exploration of atmosphere, materiality, form and the interface between analogue and digital craft. He is involved in early concept work and competitions at the studio contributing with his exceptional design, 3D modelling and advanced digital fabrication skills.

Ruxandra Gruioniu
Part 2 Architectural Assistant
BSc (Hons) MArch

Ruxi graduated from the Bartlett in 2016. She was the recipient of the RIBA Wren Scholarship in 2015. Her masters research focused on material growth and architecture that evolves and adapts to environmental and programme parameters. She has contributed to our Southwark House project and the restaurant refurbishment project at the Natural History Museum. She is currently working at Hawkins Brown across Crossrail projects. 

Dave Edwards: Architect BSc(Hons) GradDip/M-Arch ARB

Dave is ARB registered architect working across London, Basel and Hong Kong specializing in the design delivery of complex projects. Currently he works for Herzog and DeMeuron on many projects in the UK and overseas. Dave has an interest and extensive knowledge of cutting edge digital technologies and workflows, such as scripting and BIM and integrating them into the design and delivery process.  Prior to his involvement at HdM he has been employed with FCBS, NEX and ACME architects in London with a significant involvement in the design of and construction of the multi-award winning Victoria Gate. At ALEKSA Studio Dave supports the team across all stages to ensure best industry practices are met and the design intent of the early concepts are taken through to fruition on time and budget. He is actively involved with the practice's teaching at the Bartlett School of architecture. 

Amber King: Part 1 Architectural Assistant BSc(Hons)  MArch

Amber completed her undergraduate course at Oxford Brookes School of Architecture in 2015. She has been involved primarily in our residential projects across planning and technical design stages.
